So for all you guys out there that haven't heard of the Galstanberry series, here is what the first book is about:
The Girlz of Galstanberry (Book #1)
"The first book in the Galstanberry series takes readers across the United States to meet the friends and family members of Lillian, Brandi, Fei, Tabitha and Nisha. In fact, the first 5 chapters are dedicated to each girl. It was important to immerse readers in each of the girl's unique lives in order to get a good prospective on their personalities. Therefore, when readers progress through the series they will understand "why" and "how" the girls make particular decisions."
Doesn't it sound awesome?
Well this tour is all about the second book in the series Galstanberry #2. Here's what happens in book #2:
"Now what? A question asked by many at the conclusion of the first book. In Galstanberry #2 readers will follow the girls as they navigate Galstanberry Girls Academy. Who rooms with whom? What traditions are followed? An interesting component of Galstanberry #2 is each character's reaction to the culture of the academy. Do they ascribe to it, or challenge it?"
A little about G.S. Wolff & her writing journey so far:
I am an author, scientist, former mathematics professor and soon to be (< 3 weeks) medical student! So, where does Galstanberry come in?
In middle and high school, I wrote creative stories here and there. Throughout my Wellesley College and Graduate years, I conducted research and thus wrote scientific papers. In fact, prior to graduating Wellesley with a B.A. in Neuroscience, I earned a first author publication on maternal alcohol abuse in the Biology of Reproduction journal. Amid those scientific papers was a yearning to write creatively.
Last year, the chance finally came. I was a research fellow at the National Institute of Health in Washington D.C. After long days at the laboratory, I retreated to my apartment and began to write. After reflecting upon my middle, high school and college years, The Girlz of Galstanberry was born.
Where did you get the idea for The Girlz of Galstanberry series?
The diversity of girls around the world-tall, short, spunky, shy, blonde or afros. The Galstanberry series celebrates this diversity and gives girls the opportunity to "see" themselves in the personalities and experenices of Lillian, Brandi, Fei, Tabitha and Nisha. The traditions of Galstanberry Girls Academy, such as High Tea & Pearling Ceremony were inspired by my years at Wellesly, a prestigious all woman's college in Massachusetts.

Now some fun book related questions with G.S. Wolff:
*Favourite book as a child?
Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock. It is a West African tale that focuses on teaching its readers a lesson on trickery. The illustrations are delightful and capture the characters (and their reactions) perfectly. Overall, it's a great read aloud book that will keep you guessing and laughing along the way.
*Favourite book as a teenager?
Aida, Leontyne Price. Aida, which was originally written in 4 acts by Giuseppe Verdi, and then translated into a children's book by Leontyne Price, captivated my imagination. The struggle between love and loyalty, though often written about, was uniquely presented with African characters. Leontyne Price is both an author and internationally acclaimed soprano who first performed Aida on stage. When I was in middle school, my mother took me to see Leontyne Price perform the role of Aida. Despite my nervousness, we snuck backstage to meet beautiful Leontyne Price.
*Favourite book as an adult?
House of Spirits, Isabel Allende. Allende's book, House of Spirits, is pure genius. Her innovative writing has taught me how to vividly describe and add dimensions to characters.
*A book that has taught you a lesson and why?
House of Mirth, Edith Wharton. The book explores the difficulty of being a woman in the early 19th century. This book has strengthened my resolve to stand my ground no matter majority opinion.
*Favourite book this year and why?
I don't have a favourite book of this year. However, I am currently re-reading, The Giver by Louis Lowry. It's such a classic!
