IMM #17

In my mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren were everyone puts up the books they have bought, received or got from the library!

Hey everyone! This IMM is two weeks worth of great books I bought and received. I got one book from the library, I bought six books and I received one book for review and one awesome book that I won.

So, first of from the library I picked up Shade by Jeri-Smith Ready:

Shade (Shade, #1)
I have had Shade on my TRL for ages and decided to pick it up as Jeri kindly sent me some awesome swag to giveaway to you guys. So I wanted to read Shade first and do a swag giveaway with my review. I am currently reading Shade and so far I like it. My review and swag giveaway should be up sometime in October.

Over the last two weeks I bought some awesome books. I was trying not to buy too many books but failed as always he he. So here is what I bought:

The Sookie Stackhouse Companion
I was so excited  to buy this book. Its the Sookie Stackhouse companion. I love the Sookie Stackhouse novels by one of my favourite authors Charlene Harris, and this is a companion for the series. It has a new novella in it which I have read and it is awesome! Also it has exclusive interviews with Charlene and Alan Ball the creator of True Blood along with more exclusive extras. I am in the middle of reading it and love all the back story etc that we didn't know! A must buy for all Sookie Stackhouse fans!

Girl, Missing    Sister, Missing
                                                Goodreads                       Goodreads

I managed to pick up two Sophie McKenzie books for £7, a bargain to me as one was paperback and the other hardback and Sister, Missing has just been released! These books sound really good about a girl who discovers her baby picture on a missing children's website. It sounds a little like Abduction, the movie just released starring Taylor Lautner. Can't wait to read these books!

Undead
I am really into Zombie style books at the moment. This is Kirsty's debut novel. Undead is a about a school trip from hell. New girl, Bobby and Bad Boy Smitty stay on the coach while their friends and teachers get of to go to a cafe. However there friends are gone a while and when they return something has happened, something bad. Time to get a life...

One Day
One Day has just been released as a movie and I really want to see the movie but decided to to buy the book and read it as first!

Prince Caspian (Chronicles of Narnia, #4)
I love The Chronicles of Narnia and have seen and own all the movies but I have never read the books. So I am starting to collect the series and managed to get Prince Caspian for £1.

I received The Near Witch from Ashley @ Ashleys book shelf. I have wanted to read this book ever since I heard about it. I love the cover!

Author Interview: Hope Collier

A little bit about Hope:

I am a twenty-something year-old wife of one and mom of two. I love anything to do with nature, especially trees. I form odd attachments to things like keys, watches and compasses. I buy them compulsively like Mel Gibson with The Catcher in the Rye in the movie Conspiracy Theory. Music is the biggest influence when it comes to my writing. Indie and alternative are the best. My favorite color is purple. I love flowers but hate the smell of orchids. One day, I want to write a Tim Burton-esque novel and something reminiscent of Steel Magnolias without the dying.

As far as my career, making up stories has always been a part of my life. From the time I learned how to spell, I was putting pen to paper. I started writing at the age of six and just never stopped.

Can you tell us about your debut The Willows: Haven (The Willows, #1)?

When tragedy strikes, seventeen year-old Ashton Blake sets out on a cross-country road trip, leaving the comforts of Malibu for the mountains of Kentucky. Along the way, she encounters Gabe Willoughby — the mysterious drifter with eyes like the sea and a knowing smile. Getting to know Gabe raises questions about her past. But no secret can be buried forever, and Ashton soon finders herself in a world where water is air and myth becomes reality.

Just as Ashton comes to accept her newfound heritage, she’s summoned to fulfill a treaty laid down centuries before — a treaty that will divide her love and test her loyalty. In the end, her future isn’t her biggest concern, her humanity is. To run may mean war, but is she strong enough to stay?

Where did you get the idea for The Willows: Haven (The Willows, #1)?

The characters told me. I know that sounds odd, but the male lead, Gabe, was the first to have a voice. As cliché as it sounds, I had a dream about these two beings who were just inherently good. They intrigued me, so I started thinking about their lives. Eventually, it turned into a story of whom they could help, how and why. After some arguing on their part and some concession on mine, we decided to let them show me what was going to happen. All in all, they have pretty good ideas ;)

I love the cover of The Willows: Haven. Who designed it and how much say did you have in the designing of the cover?

Thanks so much! My cover designer, Neil Noah, is simply a genius! I can't praise his work enough. The idea for the cover was mine. I wanted something that was not only striking but truly captured the essence of the story. Thankfully, I'm fortunate enough to work with a publisher who appreciates their authors' input and vision. Ultimately, Neil was the mastermind in design and execution. Thanks again, Neil!

How does it feel to have your novel published and out there for all to read and criticize?

This is a really tricky question. I'm so excited to share my world with others. It's such an honor that readers would want to! But like you say, this opens the author up for criticism. I don't mind criticism when it's respectful and not directed at the author vs. their work. I don't like disrespect in any form though, be it for me or others. A courteous review is simply one that is respectful regardless of the reviewer's opinions. But in the end, good review or bad, you can't let the thoughts of others change who you are.

The Willows: Haven is the first in a series. How many will there be?

At the moment, I'm planning a total of three in the series. I'm a total pantser when it comes to writing, so that could change later. I suspect it'll be three, however :)

Are you currently working on any other projects at the moment?

Yes, I am! Several actually. I'm working on the sequel to Haven as well as few others. I'll have more information on those as they progress.

Hope's Book History

Favorite book as a child and why?

I *adored* the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle series by Betty Macdonald! They were hilarious, and I loved Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's way of teaching lessons. I still worry to this day that if I don't bathe enough, I'll begin to sprout seedlings from my body. ;)

Favorite book as a teenager and why?

SONG OF FIRE by Joseph Bentz. This was the first novel I ever read cover to cover in one sitting. The world in the story just impacted me like no other had at the time. It was magic.

Favorite book you have read this year and why?

I really got into The Hathaway series by Lisa Kleypas. They're definitely NOT YA, but Kleypas has this phenomenal knack for character creation. Just wow! In YA, I really liked Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series.

A book that has taught you a lesson and why?

Hands down winner and my favorite book ever, THE LIGHT OF ASTERIA by Elizabeth Isaacs. No other novel has moved me personally like this one. It's a story about genuine, selfless love and heartfelt forgiveness. Not to mention the incredible characters that are so real and true to life, you forget they're not really your friends. Just an incredible story!

An author you would recommend my readers check out?

See the aforementioned author ;) Not to mention Megan Curd, author of BRIDGER and coming-soon, THE GUARDIAN CHRONICLES.

Author Interview: Garden Summerland

A little about Garden:
I am kind of shy, and quiet. I enjoy reading, cooking & surfing the net~oh and also writing! I like to keep to myself, and early on I discovered that writing is an excellent retreat from the "real world". When I was about 10 years old, I wrote a science fiction story that got rave reviews in school, and I was hooked! And I've been writing ever since!

You are the author of Flash Fiction Addiction which is comprised of 22 Short Short Stories! Can you tell my readers genres and types of stories we can expect from your range of short short stories?

I think there is something for everyone is this collection. There is a little romance, crime, paranormal, some light horror~ a nice mix of odd scenarios & true to life situations all with a twist.

How does it feel to have your first novel published?

It feels fantastic! And I am so very grateful that I have had the opportunity to do this through self-publishing. I wouldn't have it any other way. And I have been so impressed by the self-publishing community, they are an awesome group of people. It has been a real pleasure to surround myself with the support and encouragement that Indie authors provide for each other.

What is it about Flash Fiction that you like and makes you want to write in this way, rather than say writing a full length novel or a series of books?

Flash fiction is extremely diverse and challenging. It is fast paced and exciting & I never have a chance to get bored with my characters! And it gives me the opportunity to stretch my writers imagination in so many different directions, all in one book!

I know you like all genres, but is there any particular genre that sticks out for you, either one you love writing or reading?

That is a difficult question! I tend to be drawn towards "darker" themes, for reading, as well as for writing. Possibly mystery/crime/horror? Can we make that one genre?

I know you are currently working on a second anthology, however are there any other projects you are working on at the moment, and are there any future plans for a full length novel or series?

I am actually working on a full length novel, entitled "Sister Sugar"~ based on a short story of the same name that can be found on my blog.

Random question: I know you like cooking in your spare time! Can you recommend a favourite dish of your's to my readers?

Oh, mercy~ the questions are getting harder!! I love a dish called "haluski". It is a cabbage, bacon, egg noodle concoction that is just divine! I recommend Kelly O'Conner's version, http://www.food.com/recipe/haluski-407129

Garden's Book History

Favourite book as a child and why?

Bedknobs & Broomsticks by Mary Norton. I suppose I loved it because it was witchy! I remember writing my own spells in the front of the book. Wish I still had it!

Favourite book as a teenager and why?

My favourite book of all time is Tanith Lee's "Dark Dance". Exquisite imagery in this book, and it is definitely "dark"!  I have been enamoured with this book for years.

Favourite book you have read this year and why?

I read Island by Jane Rogers earlier this year, and it has stayed with me. It too is a dark tale, in subject matter as well as descriptives. Full of disturbing and yet beautiful imagery, it too is now one of my all time faves. It was made into a movie, which I have yet to see;  I am a little fearful that the movie will not do the book justice.

A book that has taught you a lesson and why?

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne~ whilst seemingly just a bunch of  "new age" platitudes, there are some very accurate, hard hitting truths contained within. What I took away from it, was the reminder to have an "attitude of gratitude" in everything I do. I don't always accomplish that, but now I am fully aware of the need for it!

An author you would recommend my readers to check out?

Caolán Murray, a very gifted young writer, who has his first novel due for release in 2012. Everyone should check out his blog "Moments" http://caolanmurray.wordpress.com/

Flash Fiction Addiction: 22 short short stories by Garden Summerland is available now via Smashwords , Amazon and Barnes & Noble

YA Feature: Introducing YA author Nichole Chase

Hey! This week on Reading Away The Days I would like to introduce, YA author Nichole Chase! Nichole recently debuted her YA novel, Mortal Obligation! Please if you have time leave Nichole a nice comment and check out her book, Mortal Obligation!

A little about Nichole and her writing journey so far!

First I would like to thank you for having me on your blog. I love getting to meet new bloggers and readers. Okay, about me: I am a stay at home mom to one adorable, rambunctious toddler. If that wasn't enough to take up my time I spent my free moments writing, reading, or painting.

My secret dream in life has always been to publish a novel. I have so many stories in my head that were demanding to be put on paper (or computer screen), but it seemed like such an unattainable goal that I was afraid to even tell people. Well, I guess the secret is out now! I left my job in a medical office in February of this year to be a stay at home mother. It gave me time I needed to focus on a project I have started and never finished. Mortal Obligation went live on July 30th and I have never been happier. It has taken a lot of hard work and determination, but I finally held my book in my hands last month. There was nothing quite as satisfying of rifling though the pages of a book I had slaved over. I also have a flash fiction piece that was chosen for the The Pink Snowbunnies in Hell Anthology, which is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords. The best part of the anthology is that all of the profits go to helping local animal charities.

As for people that inspired me, I would have to say J.K. Rowling, Anne McCaffrey, Piers Anthony, Tamora Pierce, and a million other authors. Also, my husband and my sister have been my greatest supporters. Without them propping me up when things looked bleak, I may not have gotten this far. They're my Writing Wardens. There were certainly bumps along the way, but anything is achievable if you work hard.

You are the author of Mortal Obligation (The Dark Betrayal Trilogy, #1), could you tell me a little about it.

Mortal Obligation is the first book in The Dark Betrayal Trilogy, and it is set in Savannah, GA. The story revolves around Ree and her friends as they are thrust into a dark and dangerous world. There's action, paranormal elements, intrigue, and romance. With a healthy dose of angst thrown in for good measure. All of the things I want to read about.

Where did you get the idea for The Dark Betrayal Trilogy?

I was driving through the historic district in Savannah, GA, and listening to Evanscence when a scene popped into my head. Almost like a music video. (In fact a lot of my story ideas are inspired by music) I saw Ree (the main character in Mortal Obligation) looking over her shoulder at something coming for her. What really started the cogs turning in my head was the look of determination on her face. I knew instantly that it was a turning point for the girl and I had to know what was going on.

I like the cover for Mortal Obligation who designed it and did you have much input into the designing of it?

Thank you! Actually, I made the cover with some help from my mother in law. I paint, as does my mother in law, so I think that gave us a small advantage. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to create and scoured photo sites for just the right model. There had to be enough pictures of her to create the three novels in the trilogy and she had to have the right look. Once I had all of the photos, my mother in law (who knows alot more about photoshop that I do) sat down and worked on the cover until it was just right. We went though a ton of little tweaks before I was finally satisfied. The truly amazing part was that we both survived the encounter. LOL. (I almost feel sorry to tell her we have to make the second cover soon)

You have had high praise on goodreads for your novel, how does it feel that everyone seems to be loving it?

Is that a trick question? *looks around suspiciously* Um, good? Great, actually. I don't want to say its shocking, but it is a little bit. I guess I am a glass half full kinda gal, it just seems to good to be true! I can't explain the pleasure I feel when someone says they have enjoyed my book or love my characters. There is nothing quite like knowing that I have created something that other people find exciting. It's mind blowing.

Why should we read Mortal Obligation?

If you like paranormal romance and urban fantasy stories, then Mortal Obligation is right up your alley. it's gritty, it's serious, but with lighthearted moments, and romantic angst. And if for nothing else, read it for the setting. Savannah, GA, is a character itself and one worth knowing. There is know doubt in my mind why so many people have used this beautiful Southern city as the backdrop for their book or movie.

Are you working on any projects at the minute?

Yes. I am currently working on Book 2 of The Dark Betrayal Trilogy. Mortal Defiance is scheduled for editing in mid November and should be available before Christmas. After Book 2 comes Book 3 and then onto the next project!

Nichole's Book History!

Favourite book as a child and why?

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein. I read this the summer between 4th and 5th grade. An epic fantasy were the hero is a short little man with giant hairy feet. Even if you don't like to read, it is a sure bet that you have heard of the Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. It is a household name for a reason.

Favourite book as a teenager and why?
I can't choose just one. Really, I'm surprised I can narrow it down to just three series. In the hand of the Goddess: Book two of The Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce. The protagonist is fighting to keep her place in a male dominated society. She is special in so many ways, but no one finds out just why she is so special until the end of the book. The Dragon Riders of Pern series by, Anne McCaffrey. The world she has created immediately captures your imagination. I can't tell you how much I want my own dragon! Then of course, there is the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowlings. She is such an amazing and inspriational author. If you haven't watched her commencement speech at the Harvard graduation, run and watch it now. Seriously! It's a large part of why I love her so much. Besides being a kick butt woman, she created a world with a little boy that stole my heart in less than two paragraphs. I was hooked, like a junkie. I could barley stand the time between each installement.
book cover of
The Dragonriders of Pern

Anne McCaffrey
Favourite book you have read this year and why?
Defiance by Lili. St .Crow. If you haven't already, the Strange Angels series is a must read. It is a dark, gritty, and enthralling world. Lilith Saint Crow (as she writes under for her adult novels) is a master story teller, with tough, kickbutt heroines. Have I mentioned the hotties in the book? Because Graves and Christophe are mouth watering!
A book that has taught you a lesson and how?

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but In the hand of the Goddess by Tamora Pierce taught me that it was ok to be myself, short comings and all. And that if we work hard enough and were persistan, anything was accomplishable.

A book you would recommend to my readers?

Hm! I am currently reading an ARC of A Hidden Fire by Elizabeth Hunter. I am throughly enjoying the characters and the mystery that she has created. It will be avaiable in October 2011. If anything I would recommend that readers give Indie and Self published authors a shot. Thre are alot of really talented writers that weave worlds worth getting lost in.

Thank you so much to Nichole for this awesome interview. Mortal Obligation is avaiable now in Ebook via Amazon , Smashwords and Barnes & Noble ! It is also avaiable in paperback via Amazon .

The Commander and the Den Asaan Rautu Book Tour: Excerpt & Giveaway

The Commander and the Den Asaan

Today on Reading Away The Days I am happy to have an excerpt from Michelle Franklin's novel, Book one in the Haanta Series, The Commander and the Den Asaan as part of her book tour! I hope you enjoy the excerpt and check out the giveaway at the end of the post!

He had anticipated her arrival, and to be certain of her entrapment regardless of which room she had chosen to enter, the Den Asaan employed his various ambush techniques to wedge himself between the rafters opposing the entrances of the quarters. He needed only to wait until she opened a door to push her through it. Leaping on her from behind and turning her onto her back while falling took some finesse, but his gifts of infiltration had done well for him here. He sat on his knees with his legs on either side of her and pressed the chief of his weight down upon her hips to pin her to the ground. He leaned over her, assessing her with the same rapacious eyes he had done in the kitchen and growled in a low, ambitious hum. "You have provoked me for too long, woman," he warned her, pressing the bridge of his nose eagerly against hers.

The Commander
smiled at his sincerity and enjoyed watching him remark all the details of her face. " I have done nothing but politely tease," she professed, pressing a hand against her breast. His voracious remained through her speech. He tapered his gaze and scoured her form, taking in the scent of her skin with
profound inhalations.

"So," she smirked, "you've hunted and trapped me. Does this mean you're laying your claim to me?" "I am, woman," he declared, eyeing the curve of her wide hips. " Is this the usual manner in which your men ask for a mate?" The giant leaned forward, pressing his massive chest firmly against her frame. "I will not ask," he purred in her ear. "Oh, no? Shame. I had a rejection all planned out for you." Regardless of her mockery, she could not move now, and Rautu would do everything necessary to secure his prize while he had her within reach. He impressed his stern features upon hers, took  hold of her arms and pinned them to the ground with his might to make certain they would not wander toward pleasure places during his profession. He stared into her dark eyes, his chest surged with a prepartory breath, and decidely stated," I am ending this senseless frustration. You will consent to be my Traala. You have continually incited me when it is my duty to be still and observant." "And I have ruined everything," she archly crooned. " I understand your concerns on the matter and I will not provoke you again. You may release me now." Rautu did release her, but before she could move he pressed his monstrous hands down upon her chest," You will agree to be my Traala," he bellowed. She gleered at him and raised her brows,
"Shall, I?" "Yes, you will, woman. You will attend me when I call you, will obey my word, and you will perform the ritual with me whenever I ask it." "And what is your part in this exactly?" " I must promise to fulfill you, to initiate the act, and to defend your honour when others wish to have you or speak against you." "Is that all," she scoffed. " That is sufficent for the purpose of this bond. If you were one of my people, you would be expected to bear Mivaari." "You shall have to settle with being disappointed in that regard." She lifted the bottom of her tunic to reveal a long scar lining the length of her abdomen. " I was made to understand that the main purpose of Khopra was to reproduce." "It is also to give our men Dhraaha." "Is that another obligation I will be made to fulfill." "Yes," he hissed. She assumed by his not explaining the word that it must refer to the natural course of a man's release and simpered while looking up at his severe countenance, taking great pleasure in his forceful eagerness to have her. "And if I should accept your generous offer I would not be expected to keep a home or recieve bothersome guests?" "Sharing a home and remaining in a mate's company throughout the night is part of Ataas Traala, our life mates, and warriors are forbidden from this bond. We are only premitted to have Traala-" "And you would rather have me in this manner than know way at all?" Rautu was silenced by the force of his desperation. His brow bent in fretfulness to see her simpering at him and he began to believe that she meant to refuse him.

Author Interview & Giveaway with Devyn Dawson

A little about Devyn and her writing career so far:

Hi, thank you so much for offering me the opportunity to be on your blog.  My name is Stefanie Dawson and I write Young Adult books under my pen name Devyn Dawson.  I started writing when I was very young; I was a poet from the day I was born.  I always thought I’d be the next Dr. Seuss and I still might try a children’s book in the future.  I wrote stories and poetry through high school and ended up in Who’s Who among American High School Students back when they had a Who’s Who.  I grew up, got married, had kids, had bills and had to get a job.  I spent my professional career working in the field of EDI (electronic data industry) until I moved to North Carolina eight years ago and took a job with local government.  In the evenings I would start a story but wouldn’t end it, I just didn’t have the time.

In 2009 I was given a life changing diagnosis and at that point I left my full time job and spent the next year writing a manuscript.  I queried agents, and I was rejected… talk about painful, it was through the first ten.  My rejections where because of the subject matter….werewolves. The market is full of paranormal and they weren’t sure they would be able to sell to a publishing house. A few asked for a full MS but would eventually reject me.  It doesn’t kill you, but it sure will make you stronger!  Finally I threw myself into researching the Indie road and finally decided to do it.   I will say a wonderful Indie author Tiffany King helped me with social media and gave me pointers on how to get noticed.  I’m still the student and I learn something new every day.

You are the author of The Legacy of Kilkenny, the first book in the The Legacy Series. Could you tell us a little about it?

The Legacy of Kilkenny (The Legacy Series)

Abel is an ordinary teenage boy that soon found out he is a werewolf.  Werewolves grew up with a story that one day a boy would be born to human parents; he would be the Great Wolf.  The Great Wolf will lead all packs and help them keep the supernatural world from exposing their secrets.  Pru Phelan, she is the daughter of the alpha for her pack and she has been assigned to train Abel for his destiny.

Other packs want Abel so they can destroy him and some just want him for their own status.  The vampires want to kill him.  The story is told by Abel’s POV and from Pru’s POV.  It gives you the opportunity to learn how Abel longs for Pru to notice him and how Pru longs for her bodyguard Oakley.  You will notice the beginning of the book starts out with a average 16 year old  boy and will see how he matures throughout the story. The reader will find a love story that will melt their heart; they will cheer Abel on and see him struggle along the way.  His sister has a new boyfriend, she doesn’t know that he is a vampire and she now has vampire venom in her veins.  Can they save Allie before she becomes a full blown vampire?  Allie is already moody but get a little venom in her and the sparks fly.  Can Abel become one with his soul so he can become the Great Wolf?  Can Pru handle the pressure or will she break?  Someone from the pack will not survive the first book and the rogue wolves are now the hunted one.

Where did you get the idea for The Legacy of Kilkenny?

In many adult series they add a lot of story lines, ones that you can sink your teeth into.  I wanted to bring something with a story that wasn’t a love triangle to young adults.  My characters have lived in my head a long time but their story was something born out of a desire for a story that would appeal to both sexes.

In your novel we have vampires and werewolves. Vampires and werewolves stories are big at the moment with books and films such as Twilight, True Blood and The Vampire diaries. Why did you decide to write about these particular paranormal creatures and how do you werewolves and vampire compare to other well known vampires, werewolves etc.

I’ve loved vampires since I was a little girl watching black and white vampire movies with my mom.  In the 80’s I fell in love with the movie The Lost Boys - there was something sensual and erotic about the vibe the story told.  I read The Interview with the Vampire and was spellbound.  Although I adore Twilight because I do… I wanted to write a story that was more about a ‘story’ and not  a love triangle.

So I explained my love for vampires so now I tell you how I feel about werewolves. I wasn’t every really fond of the beasts until I owned three black labs.  I realized that with dogs they interact much like humans within their ‘pack’ and they look to us humans as the true ‘Great Wolf’…so I studied my dogs and I thought about my family and I created a book about werewolves (they aren’t ugly beasts either).

As far as the comparison goes, I have been compared to Twilight the most and I believe that is because I bring the magic to the story and I make you feel like you want to be in the story.  You don’t want to be a bystander, you want to fight a vampire, accept your body when it is naked, and you want to fall in love with a werewolf.  Bundle that all up and that is what my story will do for you.

How many more books are there going to be in The Legacy series?

Three!

Why should we read The Legacy of Kilkenny?

It will bring out the werewolf in you.

Are you currenly working on any projects at the minute?

Yes, I am writing the sequel to TLOK it is Malevolence - to be released in November 2011 .  You’ll meet some new characters, travel to Paris to help Pru avenge a death.  Abel has grown up, he is more mature in this book but still has that teenage boy charm.  I am also working on a book for 10-14 year old girls.

IMM #16

In my mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren were everyone puts up the books they have bought, received or got from the library!

Hey! I didn't do an In My Mailbox last week as I wasn't well, so the books listed below are the books I received the past few weeks. I was planning on doing a video IMM but it won't upload :( Hopefully I can do one next week!

Last week I went to the library for the first time in a while and picked up some great books!

Forgotten by Cat Patrick

Forgotten
I just finished Forgotten this morning and I loved it! I will have a review up later this week. I really hope there is a sequel. Its about a girl called London who can't remember what she did yesterday or the day before but can remember the future, what she will wear tomorrow, who she will have an argument with next week. There is an awesome romance in it and had great and unexpected twists and turns.

The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove by Lauren Kate
The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove
I have never read any of Lauren's books before. I picked this up as I had seen it floating around the blog world and thought it looked good. Its about a girl called Natalie Hargrove who is popular, pretty and ambitious. She wants to be prom queen and will do anything to make sure no one gets in her way!

Graveminder by Melissa Marr
Graveminder
I have never read any of Melissa's books but thought this book sounded good. It's about two families that have responsibilities in their small town to make sure the newly departed dead stay dead. Maylene is one of the people who has to make sure the dead stay dead but she is killed and it is then up to her granddaughter to come back to the town she left many years ago to take over Maylene's role and confront her past.

Virals by Kathy Reichs
Virals
Kathy is the author that inspired the TV series Bones. This book is about a girl and her friends who live in a small island and love forensic anthropologist. Her and her friends uncover a body of a dead girl that went missing 30 years ago as well as a sick dog in a lab on the other side of the island. Are the two connected? They realise they have stumbled across something bad and while on the run they all get ill. An illness that is changing their biology!

The Lily Bard Mysteries Omnibus by Charlene Harris
The Lily Bard Mysteries Omnibus (Lily Bard Omnibus)
I love Charlaine and I love her Sookie Stackhouse novels! So I wanted to try something else of hers. So I picked up The Lily Bard Mysteries. This has the first six books in the series in it and it is massive! I think I might read one story then review it and go onto another book, then go back to it. It will depend on how much I love this series!

So in the last few weeks I only bought one book, go me! This must be some sort of record for me. So the book I bought was:

Fury by Elizabeth Miles

Fury (Fury Trilogy)

Amazon

I picked up Fury for a half price in my one of my local shops. The only reason I picked it up was that I have heard great things about it. I do prefer the US cover to the UK cover though!

I received some awesome books in the post in the last few weeks. Here they are:

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Amazon

I got a sampler of Daughter of Smoke and Bone that contains the first four chapters of the novel. I am going read the sampler soon to see how I like it and if I like it I will order it. It is released September 29th.

The Seventh Blessing by Melissa Buell

The Seventh Blessing

Amazon

I have an interview up on my blog with Melissa and also a giveaway of some signed bookmarks. I will post a link at the end of my IMM. With the swag Melissa kindly sent me my a copy of her debut novel. I love the cover and can't wait to start reading it.
